Here’s another story about a couple of mouth breathers from Florida courtesy of Me ToSee.

I spent a great deal of time last year writing about the Croslin and Cummings’ families. You know, Misty Croslin, the girlfriend (and now ex-wife) of Haleigh Cumming’s father who was supposedly babysitting her when she disappeared.

I haven’t spent a great deal of time writing about Haleigh the last few months. It’s not that I don’t want to find out who killed the little girl (anyone that doesn’t think she’s unfortunately dead is living in a fantasy world), it’s just that a lot smarter people who write prose for a living are still beating that dead horse. Both families and their trailer trash buddies should be locked up for good.

Anyway, the point of this is that Hank and Lisa Croslin, Misty’s parents, were busted Friday night during a drug sting in their neighborhood. They went to a house where Hank bough cocaine. See, this is part of what I don’t get about these fuck-ups. They all know how much exposure is one them and the entire group (most of which now sits in jail) just keeps on screwing up. Come to think of it, that’s not really a bad thing.

The Trailer Trash Bunch Gets Busted…Again

According to Art Harris over at The Bald Truth 18-year-old Misty Croslin, the ex-stepmother of missing little girl Haleigh Cummings, was arrested earlier this evening in Putnam County, Florida on sex drug trafficking charges. He is also reporting that her brother Tommy has been arrested as well as Haleigh’s father Ronald Cummings.

The Cummings are another family I wrote extensively about at another crime site last year but haven’t really given much attention to since moving here.

Check out the Bald Truth for more updates on this breaking story. It’s one of my favorite crime sites and Art always has great insider information on some major cases.

It looks like they were also arrested with a Hope Sykes (MySpace). Like I said, I haven’t followed the case recently so I really don’t know what relation she is to them but the picture on her MySpace damn sure looks like her with Ron’s two kids.

Ronald Cummings Arrested for Assault and Burglary

25-year-old Ronald Cummings, Jr, the father of missing girl Haleigh Cummings of Satsuma Florida, was arrested late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning after an altercation with his in-laws.

Apparently 3 members of his 17-year-old wife Misty’s family including her father and brother Hank Sr and Hank Jr showed up at the double-wide trailer they share with Cumming’s grandmother around 11:30 PM Wednesday evening.

According to the police report which you can read in it’s entirety at Jacksonville.Com the Croslins are claiming that Misty called them and said she wanted them to come pick her up, that she didn’t want to be with Cummings anymore. According to Cummings Misty asked them NOT to come. I guess it’s pretty much a moot point now since Ronald Cummings decided to handle it himself and in doing so put himself in the wrong.

When the Croslins showed up Misty refused to get in the van and the argument started to get ugly. Ronald and Hank Jr started scrapping and Misty Croslin broke the fight up and in doing so got hit a couple of times herself. Hank Croslin Jr got back into the van to leave and at that point Ronald got into their van and beat the crap out of Hank Jr.

Once the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and spoke with everyone involved they ended up arresting Ronald Cummings Jr. for Burglary with Battery. The burglary charge is because he entered their van. Ronald Cummings is out on $12,503 bond.

Ron Cummings’ 5-year-old daughter Haleigh disappeared back in February while he was at work. His wife, who was his girlfriend at the time was babysitting and claims she woke up and noticed the kitchen light on and the back door propped open with a brick. There was quite a bit of media and a huge search. There is currently a $35,000 reward for anyone who finds little Haleigh Cummings.

Haleigh Cummings Search to Get More Help

All I’ve been hearing lately from the 6-month-old search for Haleigh Cummings are the unlawful alleged antics involving her father Ron Cummings which threaten to overshadow Haleigh. Assaults and dead rats in mailboxes among other things. Trailer trash antics. Thus it was nice to come across this report at the Orlando Sentinel earlier in the evening.

Mark NeJame, who once represented Cindy and George Anthony, announced earlier today that he and the non-profit search group Texas EquuSearch will help the family in the search for missing five-year-old Haleigh Cummings.

Monday there will be a press conference in Orlando with NeJame and Tim Miller along with the Cummings family to discuss their plans on proceeding with the search.

Where is Haleigh Cummings?

Updated – Police are reporting that they think this is an abduction. It may be that they have found prints or something off-kilter at the house that they haven’t announced yet.

Updates at the bottom of the post. I am getting a really bad feeling about this now that it’s been over 24 hours. There is an AP video of a short interview with Crystal Sheffield, the mother, at the bottom of the post.

The state of Florida has issued an Amber Alert for a missing five-year-old girl who disappeared from her bedroom at some point last night. Police say that Haleigh was staying with her father Ronald Cummings(who was at work at the time of her disappearance) and his 17-year-old girlfriend Misty Croslin (her MySpace lists her as 19). There was no sign of forced entry into the house but they are not sure if all the doors and windows were locked at the time. Police haven’t announced any suspects as of yet.

Haleigh Ann-Marie Cummings was last seen around 10pm last night in her bedroom in Satsuma. When she was put to bed she was wearing a pink shirt and underwear. According to a couple of other reports I have read she was wearing pink shorts and a tan shirt, so those differ slightly from the earlier report I had been given.

She is three feet tall, weighs 39 pounds and has blonde hair and blue eyes. Anybody that might have information on her disappearance or whereabouts is asked to contact the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office at 386-329-0808

According to police (as well as this map) there are over 30 44 sexual offenders living in the area, one right in the neighborhood. Police say that they have either questioned or will be questioning all of them. Police are also questioning the father and his girlfriend although they won’t say if they are suspects or not.

One of the channels is reporting that Haleigh was sleeping in the same bed as a 2-year-old sibling as well as a Misty. Seems as if someone would have woken up to me.

Just from watching a video of an interview with the father my gut feeling is that he couldn’t have done it. I could be wrong but my money is elsewhere. At first this case reminded me of Jessica Lunsford but now I’m thinking a bit closer to home. According to a report on FOX News Cummings told police that his “dumb bitch girlfriend” told him Haleigh was gone when he got home from work.

I’ll be at work all day so if there are any updates to the case please leave them in the comments. I can approve them from my Blackberry and then will update the post when I get home.

Below is the content from the 911 call:

CALLER: I just woke up and my back door was all open and I can’t find my daughter.

DISPATCH: Can’t find what?

CALLER: My daughter.

DISPATCH:Ok. When did you last see her?

CALLER: Um, we just like, you know, it was about 10 o’clock. She was sleeping (inaudible).

DISPATCH: Ok. How old is your daughter?

CALLER: She’s 5.

DISPATCH: OK. What was she last seen wearing, Ma’am?

CALLER: She was in her pajamas. We were sleeping.

DISPATCH: OK. Alright, you said your back door was wide open?

CALLER: Yes, with a brick. Like, there was a brick on the floor. Like, when I went to sleep the door was not like that.

DISPATCH: Was your back door locked do you know?

CALLER: Yes. The back door always stays locked.

FATHER: I just got home from work, my 5-year-old daughter is gone. I need someone to be here now. I’m telling you. If I find whoever has my daughter before you all do, I’m killing him. I don’t care. I’ll spend the rest of my life in prison.

DISPATCH: It’s OK sir, we got them on the way. Can you give me a description of the pajamas she was wearing?

FATHER: I don’t (expletive) know I was at work.

As of Wednesday afternoon police still don’t have any leads that they are discussing anyway. The family of Haleigh is pleading for her safe return, as are a lot of other people. Judging from interviews with family members they seem to agree with me in that something is hinky and that the girlfriend Misty (MySpace) isn’t telling police everything that she knows. Nobody has come right out and accused her of anything (at least where the media can hear) but I’m sure the suspicions are there. I can’t be the only cynic around. According to a comment attributed to Haleigh’s grandfather “If (you’re) in your bed with your child, and you get up to go use the bathroom, is there enough time for somebody to come in your house and snatch your child out of bed and disappear without you getting back to the bed in time? No“

The AP posted this video of an interview with Haleigh’s mother Crystal Sheffield, who lives in Georgia.

Although they aren’t requiring it the police are offering for any involved parties to take lie detector tests according to the CNN report linked below.

I’ve also just read that Leonard Padilla is heading up to the area. Before anybody starts groaning I think it’s a good thing because they are offering a $25,000 reward and they will also help to keep the media’s attention focused on the case. I’ve also heard that Tim Miller and Texas EquuSearch are headed there as well.

…and so the media circus begins again

The search for Haleigh Cummings is still under way and the media dog and pony show has begun. I honestly don’t mean that as a bad thing because any extra attention we can get in a missing child case is more than welcome. The AP released this video interview about the search earlier today.

Several different developments in the case today include:

George Anthony is in Satsuma offering support to Haleigh’s family and willing to help out in the search any way he can. Obviously he isn’t wanting the Caylee Anthony case to overshadow Haleigh’s disappearance but as I said above the media attention is welcome. While I don’t necessarily agree with all of the things that Cindy and George Anthony have said and done over the last few months I do know that they loved Caylee with all of their heart and I believe that their wanting to help out here is sincere.
Texas EquuSearch has found a location to use as a staging area in the search for Haleigh and they will be searching tomorrow.
As I mentioned in my last post about Haleigh Leonard Padilla has offered a $25,000 reward for the return of Haleigh as long as they do so before Midnight Saturday.
Haleigh’s mother, Crystal Sheffield will be on Nancy Grace tonight. Ronald Cummings also appeared on her show briefly last night.

No Progress in the Haleigh Cummings Search

The search for Haleigh Ann-Marie Cummings continued throughout the day today and no visible progress was made, although every place that they search clears that area. The police are still saying that they are optimistic and they are going to continue looking for Haleigh. Over 17 different law enforcement agencies as well as 250+ volunteers continued looking for the little girl, focusing on an area near the St. Johns River Club Adult Community which is across the street from the neighborhood where the Cummings reside.

One thing that was mentioned at a press release earlier today is that the items of interest I mentioned in my last Haleigh post turned out to be nothing relevant to the investigation.

Nobody in the immediate family spoke with the media today but Marie Griffis, the maternal grandmother did apologize for criticizing Cummings and Croslin and putting media suspicion onto Misty Croslin. As I’ve mentioned previously I personally I think the suspicion was already there but Griffis just gave it a bit of focus.

Police Question Misty Croslin’s Story in Haleigh’s Disappearance

According to Misty Croslin, Ronald Cumming’s girlfriend, She put Haleigh Cummings to bed around 8pm the night that she disappeared and the last time that Misty saw her was when she went to bed a couple of hours later. She woke up at around 3am and found Haleigh missing. Ronald Cummings got home from work shortly thereafter and that’s when 911 was called. This has pretty much been the story all along, although Misty’s has changed a couple of times.

Although I have suspected Misty Croslin of misleading investigators at the very least, now they are saying that they are starting to question her story. Apparently they have received a tip that Misty Croslin left the trailer sometime late that night or early in the morning and are following up on it. No other details are available yet but as soon as I hear something I’ll update this post.

Friday Haleigh Cummings Update

I just wanted to put up a quick update on some of the stuff happening in the Haleigh Cummings search.

One thing that has come up today that apparently has been rumored for the last few days but which I just learned, is that a cousin if Misty Croslin’s, ‘Joe’, was in Satsuma around the time that Haleigh disappeared. He is back home in Tennessee and one of the big rumors flying around is that he is a pedophile. In a press conference with Haleigh’s paternal grandmother and aunt the grandmother told the media she he had ‘heard he was a pedophile’.

Lt. Johnny Greenwood from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office disputed that rumor saying that “as far as we know, he is not a sex offender”. FBI nvestigators have spoken to Joe at his home in Tennessee but the Sheriff’s Office is not releasing any details. They also won’t confirm or deny how Croslin and ‘Joe’ are related. From what I understand, Putnam County detectives did receive a tip that Haleigh had been seen in a Carrabas restaurant in Knoxville. According to witnesses a man with the girl shielded her face and then drove off in a red Toyota Rav4 with a Florida license plate. Seems to me that if it were the cousin from Tennessee he would have Tennessee tags. More than likely it’s just someone visiting the area. I saw at least three cars today with Florida tags at my restaurant, I can pretty much guarantee that none of them had Haleigh with them either.

Allegedly the man also got into a fight over a gun with Ronald Cummings while he was in town as well, although Ronald Cummings has denied that. I’ve run across the rumor on several different news sites and forums but nobody seems to be able to corroborate it. Just one more rumor in a mill.

Misty Croslin got another 15 minutes this morning and was interviewed by Matt Lauer of the Today show. He asked her several different questions, including about the cousin. Croslin promptly threw him under the bus and then backed over him…when Lauer asked her is she thought the relative had anything to do with Haleigh’s disappearance she didn’t answer definitively ‘no’ or ‘yes’. She said “I really don’t know. I don’t know if he did or not” When Lauer asked her to clarify that statement she said “”I’m not quite sure at all. No. … He’s a criminal, pretty much; he’s been in trouble his whole life. I don’t trust him,”. Damn, that’s harsh. She also added that she hasn’t spoken to him since he left Satsuma.

He (Lauer) also asked about the pink shirt that she initially told investigators that Haleigh was wearing. Apparently she later found it in the dirty clothes and she showed the detectives after she found it.

Misty is also denying rumors that she left the mobile home the night of Haleigh’s disappearance.

The reward for Haleigh Cummings’ safe return has also been increased to $20,000 according to a news conference held earlier today by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators also received some sort of tip today that lef them to search a wooded area near the home. Nobody is saying what the tip was or if they found anything there. More than 70 searchers combed the area. My feeling is that that are getting close to finding Haleigh. After eleven days it’s extremely unlikely that she is still alive though. I do know that Sheriff’s Investigators had Croslin back down at the sheriff’s office again yesterday for five hours of questioning. They have also seized a vehicle in connection with the case but are not providing any details about the type of vehicle or who owns it.

Someone has also decided that it just wasn’t cool that Ronald Cummings stay in a tent and has donated a camper while investigators continue the search for Haleigh.

Investigators Bring Out the Cadaver Dogs in Haleigh Cummings Case

Law Enforcement had seven cadaver dogs out today around Putnam County to help in the search for Haleigh Cummings. At one point a dog alerted police to a scent inside a dumpster in a subdivision adjacent to the neighborhood where the Cummings live. It doesn’t necessarily mean there was a dead body there, there are plenty of things that decompose in a dumpster but investigators are sifting through all of the garbage in the dumpster. According to the Orlando Sentinel they will have twelve dogs out tomorrow.

Reward For Haleigh Cummings Increased

As law enforcement in Putnam County Florida continues to follow up on leads in the case of the disappearance of Haleigh Ann-Marie Cummings I’ve read where the reward for her safe return has been increased to $16,000. This has nothing to do with the reward that Bounty Hunter Leonard Padilla offered, which has since expired.

As I mentioned in my post yesterday concerning Haleigh, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office is also looking into the tip it received that Misty Croslin left the double wide trailer she shares with the Cummings at some point the night that Haleigh disappeared. She was last seen when she was put to bed around 8pm on February 9th. 17-year-old Misty Croslin, the girlfriend of Haleigh’s father, woke up at around 3am to find her missing.

Law enforcement has reported that they have received more than 1,200 tips concerning her disappearance thus far and are continuing to follow up on the leads. The big problem with a case that continues to stay in the media is that every crackpot in the country has a tip. Keeping something in the media like this is a double-edged sword. On one hand you want it to stay at the forefront of everyone’s mind in case she is seen or someone has truly seen something of interest to the investigation but on the other you run into all of the freaks and psychics that claim to have ‘seen’ her.

Updated – New Leads in the Haleigh Cummings Case

Updated 7:19pm – Investigators announced earlier this afternoon that they no longer know what Haleigh Cummings was wearing the night she disappeared from her mobile home in Satsuma. The pink shirt that they thought she was wearing is now in their possession. They won’t release any details other than the fact that she was not wearing it when she disappeared.

The ground search for Haleigh Cummings was scaled back yesterday. After searching for Haleigh all weekend Texas EquuSearch wrapped up it’s ground and water search in the area. The Putnam County sheriff however says that they are not abandoning the search, just taking a more tactical approach.

There were some new tips overnight police are looking into. Detectives went back through the area again and spoke to people that had not been interviewed in the initial door to door and apparently several new tips that have sent detectives looking around the state and even outside of Florida.

I’ll try and update this post throughout the day as news comes in.

Police Think Haleigh Cummings Was Abducted

In an interview with CNN Ronald Cummings said that both he and his 17-year-old girlfriend Misty Cummings had passed lie detector tests and that the police think that Haleigh Cummings was abducted. That certainly jibes with the way police are reacting right now. The don’t have any official suspects at the moment, as the sheriff said “All the world’s a suspect”.

Police are still focusing on several different areas and angles including finding out where the 44 registered sexual offenders are that live in a five-mile area of the Cummings trailer.
