Friday afternoon Jessica Dawn Deemer, soon-to-be ex-wife to the gentleman pictured to the left, and her boyfriend Bryce Lee Mercer were headed to Mercer’s parent’s house when Kyle Gene Deemer ran them off the road on Highway 14 north in a rural part of Marshall County, Iowa. Their car was found in a ditch to the side of the road and the couple was found lying shot to death at the side of the road. Police received a call around 5:30pm informing them of the crash and a possible shooting and when police arrived they were told that the assailant had taken off in his silver pickup truck headed north.

Deemer was sighted and given chase by the Eldorado Police Department in
Hardin County. Eventually he went off the road and Deemer tried to flee
on foot. He was found and arrested later in the southern part of the
county, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and is
currently being held in the Marshall County Jail in Marshalltown.

ORIGINAL MEDIA RELEASE of 10/18/2008:

At appx. 17:30 hrs on 10/17/2008 the Marshall County Communications Center received a 911 call indicating that a possible motor vehicle accident had occurred in the 1300 mile of Sanford Ave(Hwy 14) in Marshall County. Subsequent 911 calls indicated that there were shots fired at the scene.

Deputies from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office as well as the Green Mountain Fire Department and First Responders were dispatched to the location.

Upon arrival, the responding agencies discovered two (2) victims along side the roadway, as well as a car in the east ditch. Preliminary investigation indicated that a male and a female, in their 20′s, had been shot and killed on scene. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation was called to the scene to work with investigators from the Marshall
County Sheriff’s Office.

Witnesses stated that a suspect fled the scene northbound on Hwy 14 in a silver pickup truck. Deputies were able to determine a description and possible license number of the suspect vehicle. Surrounding law enforcement agencies were notified of the fleeing vehicle’s description. Shortly after the notification was sent out, the Eldora Police
Department located the suspect vehicle and a chase ensued. Several local, county and state officers joined in the pursuit with the chase ending in northwest Hardin County due to the vehicle leaving the roadway.

The immediate area surrounding the vehicle’s location was secured and a search started. Later in the evening, the suspect was apprehended, by the Iowa State Patrol, without incident while he was on foot in southern Hamilton County.

The suspect was taken into custody and charged with two(2) counts of Murder in the First Degree. At this time, the suspect is being held in the Marshall County Jail, without bond.

Names of the victims and the suspect are being with-held pending notification of their immediate families. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office anticipates submitting an updated News Release, with the names, later in the afternoon on 10/18/2008.

No other information will be available until released via placement on our website.

Aside from the fact that two people are dead, one of the sadder aspects of this case as I understand it is that Jessica and Kyle also had a son who is now without a mother or father. From comments I have read (unsubstantiated as of right now) Kyle and Jessica were in the process of getting a divorce and something about it is what triggered Kyle’s reaction and subsequent murder of Jessica and Bryce. Regardless of the fact that they were not yet divorced there just is no sane reason in the world to have killed them. Deemer does seem to have a pretty extensive criminal history according to court records in the State of Iowa as well. That doesn’t necessarily signify that he would kill someone but it does show the progression in his criminal activity since he was around 20 years old. If there is any from his teenage years I couldn’t find it, but of course that stuff would be sealed anyway.

I haven’t found any kind of conclusive online information for any of them. Lot’s of links that may or may not be these folks but I’m not going to post them until I have more information.

The Piersbacher Funeral Home web site has Jessica Luedtke Deemer’s obituary online. Her funeral is on Wednesday morning and the family is asking that any donations be made to the Ty Deemer Trust Fund. Here is the obituary in it’s entirety:

Jessica Dawn Luedtke Deemer of Waukee, Iowa formerly of Chariton, Iowa died Friday, October 17, 2008 near Marshalltown, Iowa at the age of 24. 

Jessica was born in Iowa City, Iowa on July 17, 1984 to Kevin and Lori (Greubel) Luedtke. She was raised on a farm near Chariton along with Jason, her brother, and Jamie, her sister. 

Jessica attended school at Russell Community School until her sophomore year and transferred to Chariton High School. She was a dedicated student and loved to learn. Jessica graduated salutatorian from Chariton High School in 2002. She had completed enough college courses and entered into Indian Hills Community College as a sophomore. In 2003 Jessica earned her Associates Degree and went on to further her education at Simpson College in Indianola. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Marketing in 2005. 

Many memories were made during Jessica’s high school years as she worked her first job in the pumpkin fields with her family. She also worked at Double Dip for Annie and Becca where Jessica was a very dedicated and loved employee. At the time of her death Jessica was employed at Principal Financial in Des Moines as a compliance associate. 

Jessica had one son Ty Deemer age 6. Above all, her greatest joy was being Ty’s mom. She had a big heart and would sacrifice all for those she loved. Jessica was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. 

Jessica was a genuine friend to all. She was a natural when it came to decorating. Whether it was a friend’s wedding cake or painting Ty’s room, her creativity was endless. She has always loved to exercise and recently began biking and running. This past year Jessica participated in RAGBRAI, the Dam to Dam Run, and Living History Farms Race. She enjoyed the challenge and was always the one encouraging her friends along the way. 

Jessica is survived by her son Ty, her parents Kevin and Lori Luedtke, brother Jason Luedtke, sister Jamie Luedtke, all of Chariton, Iowa; grandparents: Bob and Colene Greubel, Lacona, Iowa; Orville and Joy Luedtke, Des Moines, Iowa; Joan and Bill Elliott, Indianola, Iowa; great grandparents: Paul and Veda Miller, Lacona, Iowa; mother-in-law Brenda Rumley, Chariton, Iowa; sister-in-law Ashley Rumley, Ottumwa, Iowa; grandmother Wilma Deemer, Lucas, Iowa; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. 

Services will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton, Iowa with Pastor Eric Hann and Pastor Paul Olson officiating. Burial in Salem Cemetery in Lucas County, Iowa. 

The family asks that memorials be made to Ty Deemer Trust Fund.

…at least that’s what Jose A. Santiago Camacho says and he should know

Police in Port St Lucie, Florida started following a pickup truck last night after they noticed that the headlights were on. When the officer turned on his blues he saw a plastic bag get thrown from the passenger side of the truck which he made sure to retrieve. Inside the plastic bag there were several smaller bags that had coke inside. Cocaine I guess I should say.

Of course Jose Camacho denies ever having the plastic bag and says he doesn’t know anything about the cocaine although he did cop to ownership of another bag that they found concealed on his person. Along with the drugs police found $2100 in his wallet. How did it get there, you ask? Certainly not from being a scum-sucking drug dealer.

Oh no. Never.

Jose got his $2100 from cutting lawns earlier in the week. Fuck. I think I’m in the wrong bidness.

In addition to the drug charges that both Jose Camacho and the driver, Justo Villanueva face, Villaneuva also was cited for open container after the cops found an open bottle of Michelob Ultra in the truck. Christ, if you are selling drugs you should at least be able to afford decent beer. Anything other than Bud, Coors or Michelob. Damned piss water.

Colorado issued an Amber Alert yesterday for 15-year-old Kanyon Nicely who went missing at some point Monday night/Tuesday morning in the town of Pagosa Springs where she lives. She is believed to be with 20-year-old Travis Lee Farmer and headed to Mexico.

The two may be traveling south, possibly to Mexico in a white Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel pickup truck with Colorado license plates 534-LZA. The truck has signs for PAP (Precision Asphalt Paving) on both driver’s and passenger side doors. It has an extended cab as well as a 100-gallon fuel tank in the bed. Due to the fact that it has the extra tank authorities believe that they could make it to Mexico without stopping. As of today the Amber Alert has been canceled but law enforcement is treating this as a kidnapping due to the fact that Kanyon is only 15.

Travis is described as being a white male with blue eyes, brown hair, 5’8″ weighing 156 pounds. The vehicle they might be traveling in was stolen from his employer on Monday night, his employer reported it stolen at 8am Tuesday morning. He was seen leaving his sister’s house at approximately 1am Tuesday morning. He left a note saying that he was afraid he might go back to prison on other charges. In addition to pending action against him from earlier this summer he had already spent two months in prison for an aggravated motor vehicle theft charge that he pleaded guilty to back in January. The ‘other charges’ he referred to are most likely a trial for possession of a weapon, eluding police and another aggravated motor theft. The trial for those charges is scheduled for January.

Travis and Kanyon has only been dating for about a week and her parents had not approved of their relationship due to his age. They last saw her around 1am Tuesday morning and said that she had most likely gone out an open bedroom window.

Kanyon’s MySpace page (actually she has two of them) look pretty much like the normal teenage angst you’ll see quite often. Most notable though is the headline ‘FUCK THIS LIFE’. Teenagers are angry and sometimes show it in different ways. Is this a case where she decided that it was better to run away from her life than to face whatever she was having a hard time with? She has several blog posts up on her MySpace page including some poetry. The most recent post is from the end of July and is below:

I mentioned this morning prior to leaving for work that there had been an arrest in the Brianna Denison case and sure enough there has been and it looks like James Michael Biela is the guilty party, although that won’t come for sure until he gets his day in court. This isn’t a court of law however and thus far the evidence points solidly as Biela being the scumsucking bag of excretion that raped and killed Brianna and possibly sexually assaulted several other women as well.

Currently Washoe County sheriff’s detectives are digging in the backyard of the house where James lived at one point. Although they won’t release the details of the search there are only a few things they could be searching for. More dead bodies or hidden evidence such as clothing or murder weapons.

Biela has a bit of a violent history as well. Back in 2002 he was arrested for threatening his ex-girlfriend’s neighbor with a knife. His girlfriend at the time filed a restraining order against him but he was never served with it and the original charge of assault with a deadly weapon was downgraded to simple assault, which is a misdemeanor. 

So how was Biela finally caught? People like us. All the great detective work in the world can’t lead you to a suspect through DNA if they aren’t in any database. In this case someone left an anonymous tip that Biela might have been involved in the murder. After getting the tip Reno police met with Biela, who declined to give a DNA sample. Remember this morning when I said that they had gotten a sample of DNA from Biela? It was actually a DNA sample from his 4-year-old son. Reno detectives also interviewed Biela’s girlfriend at the time of Brianna’s disappearance, Carleen Harmon. Carleen had a son by Biela and although Biela said that Harmon would give him an alibi for the time when Brianna disappeared she could not account for him during the times in question, December 16th 2007 or January 20th 2008.

In addition, Biela moved to Washington (where his mother lives), ostensibly for work, between March and September of this year and sold his Toyota Tacoma pickup truck before he left. What would you like to bet that the truck matches the description of the one police were looking for earlier this year? According to the arrest warrant which I just finished reading it does. If you will remember one of the victims also said there was a baby or toddler shoe on the floorboard as well. Biela’s son’s perhaps?

Carleen went to visit James Biela while he was in Washington and while she was there she found a pair of thong panties in his vehicle. She asked him about them and he claimed to have stolen them from a local laundromat. Makes me wonder if it’s a trophy from Reno or perhaps there are more unnamed victims in Washington that James Biela sexually assaulted.

James Michael Biela is a former United States Marine which just pisses me off to no end. This sullies the reputation of the Marine Corps just as badly as some of the active duty scumbags that have recently committed heinous crimes.
