• ThomasFeldheim

At some point back in 2008 27-year-old Thomas Feldheim of North Carolina met a 13-year-old girl on the Internet and got to know her. He and the girl met in December of that year and he raped the girl. He was arrested for Statutory Rape and made bail. The the asshole took off and has been on the run ever since.

U.S. Marshals received a tip last week that Feldheim was staying with a friend at a Holiday Inn Express in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Around 5 a.m. Friday morning Marshals knocked on the door where he was reportedly staying and receiving no answer they broke down the door.

Feldheim was lying on an inflatable air mattress on the floor and his friend was on the bed. When Feldheim refused to put his hands up they used a stun gun on his sorry pedophile ass, knocking him down and causing a concealed .22 pistol that Feldheim was holding to hit the floor as well.

In addition to the other charges he was already facing Feldheim has also been charged with Weapons Possession and is currently lodged in the Middlesex County Jail until he is extradited to North Carolina. His friend was detained and then released.

According to the Sante Fe, New Mexico Sheriff’s Department Stephen Hilla picked up his three children who he shares custody with their mother from school on Tuesday, ostensibly to take them to lunch. Hilla and the three children have been missing ever since. His ex-wife attempted to get in touch with him after he didn’t show up after lunch and has been unsuccessful.

    justinhilla timmyhilla emilyhilla

Hilla does have a history of criminal violence and police believe that he may be headed toward Wilmington, North Carolina, which is his home town and supposedly he has a job waiting for him there. The Sheriff’s Office checked with his current employer in New Mexico and according to them he hasn’t shown up for work in several days.

The three children are Justin (10), Timmy (10) and Emily (8). Hilla is 6’4″, 170 lbs and has blond hair and blue eyes. He was last seen driving a dark blue Dodge Ram 1500 two wheel drive pickup with New Mexico license plates 1001-PTD. He may also have two dogs with him as well, a black Chow-Labrador mix and a red and tan miniature dachshund. Hilla is on probation for domestic battery and is considered dangerous.

Updated 12/11/09 – Hilla’s record of arrests includes DUI, Aggravated Assault, Shooting Inside a Dwelling, Tampering With Evidence, Abandonment or Abuse of a Child (several times), Battery, Aggravated Domestic Battery, Driving With a Suspended License and Civil Actions for Breach of Contract.

On the 8th Hilla was tracked as far as Amarillo and an officer even ran his plates but at that point in time there was no warrant out for his arrest.

Updated 1/4/2011 – The remains of Kristi Cornwell were located by her brother on New Year’s Day. Carringer is suspected of the abduction and murder. I have updated the story here.
Back in August Kristi Cornwell disappeared while on a walk near her parent’s home in Union County, Georgia. Search teams combed the area for weeks looking for the missing woman but to no avail. Even though the official search ended up having to be scaled back her family has continued the search and recently auctioned off a family home in order to continue being able to pay for it.

The GBI is now thinking that her disappearance may be related to another attempted abduction in Ranger, North Carolina which is about 25 miles from where Kristi disappeared. A man pulled up behind a woman while she was walking near the local community center and knocked her down. Fortunately she was able to escape from her attacker.

    GBI_Sketch.png

Police are looking for a man driving a silver Nissan Xterra with tinted windows and a brush guard on the front. The attempted abduction happened about nine days prior to Kristi’s disappearance. Cornwell’s family has offered a $50,000 reward in the case.

  • Pilar Rocha

21-Year-Old Pilar Rocha of Homestead, Florida apparently was living in Gastonia, North Carolina two years ago. She has been arrested by the FBI and United States Marshals in Florida on charges that she forced a eight-year-old boy to have sex with her while she was living in Gastonia. She was 19 at the time the incident occurred back in November of 2007.

According to the arrest records Rocha followed the boy to the bathroom while she was babysitting him and they had sexual intercourse. She is also accused of showing several pornographic videos to the boy as well.

Tuesday night Rocha was transferred into the custody of the Gaston County Sheriff and lodged in the county jail on charges of Rape of a Child and Disseminating Obscene Material to a Minor Less than 14. She is being held on $200,000 bond.

Pilar’s MySpace, “crazycolombian4u” hasn’t been logged into since April of 2008. She also has three others, one of which she accessed earlier this year, but it doesn’t look as if there has been much activity on them.

I haven’t found it yet (but I haven’t looked real hard) but one of the reasons the bond was set so high in Gaston County was due to the nature of the charges, the fact that she is a Florida resident and her criminal history so apparently this isn’t the mostly spanish speaking woman’s first go round with the law. I do know that she was charged with prostitution in Miami in 2008 but that case has already been resolved prior to Gaston County authorities being able to take her into custody.

  • kellymorris.jpgThis is a story I followed late last year while Steve Huff was still writing for the True Crime Report.

28-Year-Old Kelly Currin Morris went missing on September 3rd 2008 when she allegedly went to look for the family dog. Her husband, Scott Morris, said that she just ‘never came home’. The thing is, he didn’t report her missing until September 4th when there was a fire at the Morris home, so the search didn’t begin until then. Her 2005 Honda Accord was located about a mile from the home, locked, with her purse, cell phone and keys still inside it.

    williamscottmorris.png
On the 10th of September the Granville County Sheriff anounced that during the search a ‘dim light’ of hope remained in their minds but that everyone was afraid something bad had happened to Kelly.

September 12th it was announced that the fire was an act of arson. At the time some of the searchers publically wondered why Scott Morris hadn’t taken part in the search for his wife. By the 14th Morris was named as a ‘person of interest’ in her disappearance. According to commenters on other sites and interviews with neighbors there was a feeling of strife in the marriage. The official search effort stalled around this time and although searchers would continue looking for her body law enforcement was at a loss to explain what had happened to Kelly Currin Morris, beloved mother of two small children.

kellycurrinmorris.jpgOver the last year rumors have trickled back and forth on several blogs from commenters who state that Scott Morris had killed someone prior to Kelly’s disappearance and gotten away with it. Obviously these are just allegations and I have yet to find anywhere with an actual report or media release on the subject.

David Lohr over at the Criminal Report Daily, along with Blink on Crime (linked as the source) are both reporting that the remains of Kelly Currin Morris may have been found. Details in the discovery are pretty sketchy right now but the human remains have apparently been found at a fox hunting club in Creedmoor, North Carolina.

Police took William Scott Morris into custody last night and booked him at the Oxford Magistrate’s Office. Police are not releasing the reason for his arrest. The Granville County Sheriff is reporting, however, that there will be a press conference today at 4 p.m.

A judge signed a court order granting temporary custody of the children to Kelly’s parents. A hearing on that will be held Friday.

I updated the last post about Cesar Laurean, the Marine who murdered Lance Corporal Maria Lauterbach and fled to Mexico, last week when I mentioned that he would be back in the U.S. by the end of the week. He was finally extradited after having lost his last attempt to fight against extradition to the United States and he is back in North Carolina, already having attended his first court appearance yesterday.

Laurean appeared before Judge Paul A. Harrison for all of three minutes yesterday wearing a bulletproof vestbulletproof. Along with murder he is being charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, theft of a financial transaction card, attempted fraud with a financial card and obtaining property by false pretense. Along with being denied bail in the murder case he has been ordered to submit a DNA sample as well, mainly to determine if he was the father of Lauterbach’s unborn child. The charred remains of Lauterbach and her child were found buried in a fire pit in Laurean’s back yard in January of 2008.

    Image via Wikipedia

UpdatedCesar Laurean to be back in the U.S. this week. According to several reports I’ve read Cesar Laurean is expected to be in Houston, Texas by the end of the week. Once he arrives there he will be transferred into Federal custody and then finally transferred back to the Onslow County Jail in Jacksonville, North Carolina where he will face murder charges.

Cesar Laurean, the U.S. Marine accused of killing another Marine back in December of 2007 fled to Mexico earlier this year and was eventually captured by Mexican authorities and has been sitting in jail since. A Mexican court agreed to extradition earlier this year but now he is appealing it based upon the notion that North Carolina’s life without parole sentence for first-degree murder is barred under Mexican law.

If the extradition is overturned it is entirely possible that Laurean could be a free man in Mexico. The argument has been used unsuccessfully in the past but the court might just side with him particularly since immigration from Mexico is such a big deal at this time.
Laurean killed pregnant marine Maria Lauterbach and then burned her and her unborn baby in a pit in his back yard, then tried to cover it up. He was already under investigation by the U.S. Marine Corps for the rape of Lauterbach and was possibly the father. Some folks, including Lauterbach’s family, think that the Marines didn’t do enough to protect Lauterbach after she complained about the incident.

Someone emailed this press release to me last night so I wanted to go ahead and schedule it for posting. I don’t have all the info on John Scott Gardner yet but will update this as I get more information.

On Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at approximately 12:00 p.m. forty-four year old John Scott Gardner was arrested by U.S. Marshals and Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Deputies off Leger Road outside the city limits of Crowley. Gardner was Wanted by the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina for Sexual Assault of a Child.

On Tuesday night, Deputy U.S. Marshals in North Carolina obtained information that Gardner was in the Crowley, LA area. Given the nature of the offense, they contacted Deputies from the Lafayette office who began researching the case. On Wednesday morning, Deputy U.S. Marshals in Lafayette contacted the Acadia Parish Sheriffs Office; the two agencies compiled their resources and began the process of narrowing down where in Crowley Gardner may be. Not long after, deputies believed that Gardner was at a home off Leger Road staying with a friend. Just before 12:00 p.m. Deputies surrounded the home Gardner was believed to be in, knocked on the door and after about a minute Gardner came out with his hands in the air. Gardner was taken to the Acadia Parish Jail, booked on the North Carolina Warrant, and is awaiting extradition back to North Carolina to face his charges.

Cesar Laurean’s attorney Dick McNeil spoke with WHQR 91.3 FM about Laurean and the fact that he might possibly be tried twice.

Since North Carolina and the United States Marine Corps are basically two different entities it’s possible that even though NC has said they would not seek the death penalty in the case against Laurean once he is finally extradited, the Marine Corps is silent on it. When he is finally returned to the United States it’s possible that he may face two trials, one in civilian court, and since he is still considered an active member of the United States military he may be tried again in military court.

Perhaps Maria Lauterbach will receive justice in the murder after all…
