Author and owner of Captain Obvious' Crime Site. I have been blogging in one form or another since the days of Fidonet and BBSes in the early nineties. Started blogging in it's current form around 10 years ago and got seriously interested in crime in 2005, about the time Natalee Holloway vanished. I've been hooked ever since.

There is a double standard but I think since the Debra Lafave case cropped up and others people have realized that female predators are more common than any of us thought. And the gap that is the double standard has shrunk. Now I look back to when I was 13 years old, I lost my virginity to a girlfriend that was 14. She had sex for the first time when once when she was 13 but it was like all first, second, third times, awkward and not really knowing what to do. I know that is a bit young but we were both horny little snots and it was a coming of age thing. I also think for most people it’s 16 or maybe 15, even nowadays. I know what these women have done is wrong but I have to say, there is a part of me that would have loved an adult women to seduce me and show me how to make love when I was 13-17 years old. I remember vividly having the hots for my friends mom who was 39. We used to love going over to his house and swim in his pool because we knew his mom was going to come out in her two piece bringing lemonade and snacks, bending over to put them on the table…and get some sun and swim. She had no idea we each had hard on for her, she was just being a good mom. Another close friend was my next door neighbor, he had an older sister in early 20′s that we used to just drool over. I’d have given anything to have sex with her when I was 13, 14, 15, 16… Would it have been wrong? Yes, but as a pubescent boy walking around with a constant hard on at the time I would have thought it was the best thing in the world. As I write this it dawns on me, I think most boys at that age are open to being seduced by adult women. Is it wrong yes, everyone should discover there sexuality at their own pace and go through that “coming of age” experience with someone of the same age.
