32-year-old Green Bay, Wisconsin resident and former teacher at Kiel High School Ryan Zellner was arrested back at the beginning of April, charged with Sexual Assault of a Child, Child Enticement, Use of a Computer to Facilitate a Child Sex Crime and Sexual Assault of a Child By School Staff Person.
The charges stemmed from text messages which happened over a period of time beginning in 2007 and involving several victims. Shortly after his arrest bond was set at $100,000 and he was lodged in the Manitowoc County Jail. He has also been charged in Calumet County with asking a 15-year-old girl for naked photos, grabbing her breast and sexting. The official charges are Exposing a Child to Harmful Materials. Zellner was investigated on the same type of charges back in 2006 when he was teaching at Southwest High but the case couldn’t be substantiated and went nowhere.
According to investigators Zellner intimidated and manipulated girls younger than 16 in more than one school district.
While Zellner got a great reference from his old school before being hired at Kiel according to the prosecution he left his two prior teaching positions under suspicion of inappropriate contact with students and that several students have called the police to report Zellner since his arrest.
A couple of weeks ago the police subpoenaed Zellner’s phone records and are saying that he exchanged more than 10,000 texts, phone calls or photos on his cell phone over a four month period with just one girl.
Ryan Zellner has pleaded Not Guilty By Reason of Mental Disease or Defect. What a load of crap. Of course he has a fucking mental defect but that doesn’t preclude him from being able to judge whether or not it’s appropriate to molest high school girls.
