Back in 1985 Gilbert Gauthe was convicted of Child Molestation and Child Pornography in Lafayette, Louisiana. As a matter of fact he’s one of the first Catholic priests publically accused of sexually abusing multiple children. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison but in our governments attempt to make sure pot smokers are kept locked up for a good long time by releasing violent predators he was released for good behavior after nine years.
Ten months later he was arrested in Texas for molesting a three-year-old boy. He pleaded No Contest and got seven years probation from that little stunt. In ‘97 he was arrested and charged with the rape of a woman twenty years prior. After spending a couple of years in jail waiting for trial the charges were dropped.
In 2008 Gauthe was arrested when he was living and working in Galveston and was discovered to not have registered as a sex offender. He has been sitting in jail for the last two years and has been released again. He will apparently be living in Sante Fe, Texas (just a few miles from Galveston Island).
Gauthe is suspected of molesting at least 100 children. The various convictions and charges he has faced over the last 25 years don’t even cover half of them. As a matter of fact there are allegations of molestation and complaints of improprieties as far back as 1972 in Broussard, Louisiana.
Hopefully the folks in Sante Fe will keep one eye on their children and another on this scumbag.
