Author and owner of Captain Obvious' Crime Site. I have been blogging in one form or another since the days of Fidonet and BBSes in the early nineties. Started blogging in it's current form around 10 years ago and got seriously interested in crime in 2005, about the time Natalee Holloway vanished. I've been hooked ever since.

She was a Judge. Wheather one agrees with underage drinking laws are not is moot point. That position holds tremendous responsibility for upholding the law. Just Look at her case history. How many adult teens and adults has she prosecuted for underage drinking, or providing alcohol to minors, or public drunk charges? Plus, as a parent/adult, she also had a responsibility for the teens in her home.

I happen to know this judge personally and find her to be a very kind and compassionate woman. She made a mistake as we all do and she has been charged. She also stepped down from the bench. She has paid a heavy price for this mistake but has done so with dignity. I also heard that the arresting officer had it out for her due to some problems he had with arrests that she tried in her court…

I agree with you Captain and bravo for being a realist. When I was 18 my parents would allow me to have the occasional beer at home. It took the mystery out of alcohol and because it was allowed it lost its forbidden appeal. By the time I was 21 I realized I didn’t much like alcohol and while all my friends were getting shit faced I thought the whole thing was dumb.
Here in Alaska it is legal to give your OWN children alcohol if you so choose. I have never heard of this causing a problem. Pot is also legal but I won’t get started on that.
