32-Year-Old Edward Floyd of Chicago has been cooling his heels in the Cook County Jail since he was arrested in September of 2008 for molesting two children. He’s charged with Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child. He is kept in the Maximum Security Division and stays in his cell 23 hours a day.
Officials at the jail learned that during the one hour he gets to go outside he has been looking for a hit man who could take care of the kids he raped.
The Cook County Sheriff’s Office assigned an undercover officer to pose as a hit man and get in touch with Floyd. Floyd wrote a letter to him which informed the officer of the layout of the house as well as the address. He even told the officer specifically where the children slept.
The officer visited Floyd in the jail and during a meeting which was recorded Floyd told the officer that he really didn’t care if the family was told who had sent the “hit man” but he wanted the children’s deaths to “be easy” and wanted the man to shoot the parents in the face. He agreed to pay the undercover cop $15,000 with $7,000 in advance.
Floyd ended up being questioned about it last week and he admitted to the hit, including giving a written statement to his involvement. The family, also in Chicago, was informed of Floyd’s intent afterward.
According to an article in the Chicago Tribune from September of 2008 Floyd was a TSA employee who screened baggage at O’Hare International Airport.
