Cynthia Galens of New York used to be an alcoholism counselor at the VA Hospital in Canandaigua, NY. While working there she counseled a dude named Thomas Stack. As a matter of fact the 51-year-old woman counseled him so well they ended up dating.
Nothing says professionalism like fucking the guy you’ve counseled for alcoholism, I’ve always said.
Anyway, according to Galens, it ended up being an abusive relationship but rather than just packing her shit up and hitting the door Cynthia opted for something with a bit more permanence. She spiked 47-year-old Stack’s Margarita Mix with Antifreeze back in October.
The day after she dumped antifreeze into his mixer she ended up calling 911 to report Stack convulsing and foaming at the mouth. He was taken to the hospital where he died four days later. An autopsy listed the cause of death as “complications of ethylene glycol intoxication”.
Police might have eventually put the pieces together but what got Cynthia caught was her own big mouth. On a recent trip to Florida she told a friend what she had done and of course the friend in turn called the law. Turns out that Cynthia told SEVERAL people. I don’t know how she expected to keep her murder a secret considering how many other people she told. A Captain with the New York State Police believes that she was trying to reach out for help and maybe to assuage her conscience when she started telling people she knew about the murder.
