Back in 2005 and 2006 29-Year-Old Shane Garrett Horning was the youth pastor at Santa Margarita United Methodist Church in Santa Margarita, California. While he was the youth pastor he met with a 16-year-old girl who belonged to the church and had sex with her more than once. The girl never told anyone at the time and Horning moved on, leaving the church and moving to San Jose.
Just a few months ago Horning started sending text messages of a sexual nature to a 15-Year-Old relative of the same girl. When she found out about the messages she was finally able to summon up the courage to tell her parents of her own victimization and in turn they went to the police.
After an investigation Horning was arrested and has just recently gone to trial where he pleaded guilty to several counts of Oral Copulation With a Minor. He is to be sentenced on January 22nd and prosecutors are expecting Horning to be sentenced to one year in jail and another five of probation.
