Back in October 11-year-old Leandra Rosado was killed when she was riding in a car driven by a family friend who also happened to be drunk. As a result “Leandra’s Law” was created and gives much harsher penalties if you are caught driving drunk with children in the car rather than just being your garden variety drunk driving asshole. 33-year-old Reanna Reidpath of Syracuse gets the honor of being one of the first New Yorkers to be charged under the new law.

New York State Trooper David Worden noticed a white Dodge Neon driving erratically and swerving on the New York State Thruway last Sunday. When the officer stopped the car he found Reanna along with her 9-year-old daughter.

The trooper administered a breathalyzer which showed a blood alcohol level of .204 and Reidpath was arrested and charged with Aggravated DWI with a Child in the Vehicle along with Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She was lodged in the Oneida County Jail and the little girl was turned over to her grandmother.
