Saturday morning a 911 call came into Dawson County Dispatch which included some of the following which could be heard on the recording: A woman’s voice asking frantically. “Please don’t kill me, I’ve got my babies. Why are you shooting us? Why did you bring me down here to the river?”. A bit later a man’s voice could be hear, “I am going to shoot you both”.
That is unfortunately exactly what happened.
Jennifer and Paul Budrawich drove from Effingham County to Dawson County every two weeks to visit her two children who were in the custody of a relative. This Saturday started out no different but this past weekend they never showed up as they were scheduled. Police searching for the Budrawich’s found their car at a grocery store parking lot in a neighboring county around 11 p.m. Saturday night and Jen’s body was found in the Amicalola River Sunday afternoon. Her husband was also found in the river on Monday. Both had been shot to death before being dumped in the river.
Security video from the grocery store parking lot showed two men leaving the car in the parking lot and then driving off in a pickup truck.
Police have arrested two Dawsonville men in the murder, 40-Year-Old Jesse James Kilgore and 27-Year-Old Benjamin Kelly Mullinax, his nephew. In addition to having been arrested earlier this year for theft Kilgore shows exactly how much of a douchebag he really is by being the father of on of Jennifer Budrawich’s children. Kilgore is also Jennifer’s stepfather as well.
