Thanks to Southern Lady for this one.

25-Year-Old Samira Watkins was dating a man at the time of her disappearance but it was for her a very strange relationship. She called him Ricky to some family members. She had no pictures to show her family and she didn’t bring her man around, which her sister thought was very strange.

Samira was two months pregnant on October 29th, 2009 when she left her five-year-old son to be babysat at her grandmother’s house. Samira never came home.

A week later two fishermen on Bayou Grande found Watkins’ body washed ashore. Stuffed inside a duffel bag with her eyes, nose and mouth duct-taped shut, Watkins’ little boy would never see her again.

Police immediately started focusing on Samira’s boyfriend, 25-Year-Old Zachary Antwann Littleton, a Naval MP from Vaughn, Mississippi, near Jackson for various reasons. It will probably have to wait for DNA tests to be positive but investigators think that Littleton was the father of Watkins’ unborn child and wanted her to get rid of it.

Abortion was not a choice she agreed with according to Samira’s family, and the most likely motive in killing her, particularly since Littleton was already married.

Zachary Littleton has been lodged in the Escambia County Jail with no bond after being arrested at Pensacola NAS by Pensacola and Naval Police. He has his first hearing this afternoon at 1:30 p.m.

According to one of Littleton’s two old MySpace pagesIf you act one way then that is the way you be… I am the man of all men and if you dont think so then your not on my level.” The other one states (from back in 2006) “I AM SINGLE WITH ONE CHILD AND I AM IN THE MILITARY BASED IN JAPAN BUT THE GULF HERE I COME!!!!!!! I AM NOT LOOKING TO BE TIED DOWN CAUSE I LUV SEEN THE WORLD WITH NO EXTRA LUGGAGE. (IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN)”. That last one seems to be an eerie prelude to his actions with Samira Watkins.

Updated 1/16/2010 – A judge in Pensacola, Florida has approved the release of Zachary Littleton on $500,000 bond. As of yesterday he was still in the Escambia County Jail. The judge said that while the State’s evidence was highly suggestive that Littleton killed Watkins, it was still mostly circumstantial.

According to the Pensacola police a search of Littleton’s laptop on October 22nd and 28th turned up searches for “what speeds up human remains decomposition” and “how to pass a polygraph”.

Unfortunately they don’t have any (or very little) physical evidence to tie Littleton to the murder. No blood, no fingerprints, no DNA.

Littleton has another court date on February 16th.
