According to CBS Atlanta a woman led police to a dumpster in Atlanta and told them that the child had been stillborn. The woman showed up at South Fulton Medical Center bleeding from child birth but with no child and the authorities were called by the medical staff at the facility.
After she was treated the woman took them to an apartment complex in northeast Atlanta where the baby had been left. She initially told police that she had given birth and then buried the baby. She and the father were both very uncooperative with police until around 5 this morning when they decided to lead police to the body.
The medical examiner has yet to determine if the baby was stillborn.
Updated 12/1/09 – 26-Year-Old Jesus Valenti and 29-Year-Old Sandra Ramirez have both been arrested and charged with Abandonment of a Dead Body. They are both lodged in the Fulton County Jail
The ME still has not determined if the baby was stillborn or not. Georgia does have a safe haven law that allows mothers to leave their babies up to seven days old with an employee of a hospital, institutional infirmary, health center or birthing center in GA without any kind of legal penalties.
